Bullet Journal: April 2018

I totally missed out on the 6 months mark to do a general update on how bullet journalling has gone for me. I’m going to try out monthly updates, even if it’s just to show my spreads and themes!

For April, I wanted to do a rain theme. It was a take on April Showers, but as  I was sketching out the cover page, I liked the cloud theme so much that it it stuck!  AmandaRachlee and her  April set up video was also a big inspiration.  The main collections for this month are the cover page, the date drop list, the month at a glance, my habit trackers, a shopping list, a bill  tracker, and a few doodles/aesthetic pages.

I should have only chosen one accent color, but going through all of my markers every gray, pale blue, and lavender was perfect for this theme. A lot of people would consider this super sad and depressing, but cloudy and overcast days (when it’s not so humid you have to swim everywhere) are my favorite. Next month there will be more color!

On the topic of the bullet journal; do you have any fitness/workout spreads you love? I’m getting more serious about getting fit, and losing a little weight. Figured that I can keep myself accountable by incorporating it into my Bujo, besides the standard tracker. Let me know in a comment, or on twitter & Instagram;  @elisabethlovess

Favorite Things

Listen. I do not have the funds to have a favorites that’ll make a huge blog post once a month. The favorites I do have, are from this entire winter season

Kuretake Zig brush pens:

Many things I love about these pens. They are double sided, each side is a different color, and they look lovely in my bullet journal. I have the pastel set  and just a big 12 pack (really 24 pack) of  classic colors you’d expect to find in markers. They do take a bit to dry, but I find the my hand lettering turns out the best with these.

Zoella Beauty ” Wonder Hand” hand cream

Between school and the office, there is a lot of hand soap that dries out my hands. There has been extra hand washing lately because of flu season. On top of that I was sick last week, so I’ve been washing my hands a hundred times a day. This leads to super dry and uncomfy hands.

I can’t begin to sing the praises of this lotion. It feels so nice and hydrating on my hands. The scent is heavenly! I’m usually really picky about scents and this one is okay. It does take a little while to absorb, but that means my hands will be soft. You get SO much in one tube that this lotion is amazing for knees and elbows in a pinch. Wonder Hand has been a god send for work as I kneel a lot to refill the drink fridge, or filling the printer etc (general entry level office work.) I also like to wear dresses more often so the ashy knee issue was REAL for a little bit.

Lauren Conrad “Hydrangea” Heels:

A purchase that was an emergency for a Christmas party, has turned into one of my favorite pairs of heels of all time. They are comfortable, a neutral color that goes with most outfits, and they didn’t break the bank. These are definitely a good pair of heels for all occasions. The heel isn’t super high, so comfort is a factor. I can easily get through a cocktail party, or a night out where there is some walking involved.

Thanks for reading!

What are some of your favorite things?

Self Doubt

2017 has been the year of self doubt. Where a self confidence and passion once stood, now stands second guessing and the “delete post” button. This year I have trashed  29 posts and 27 have made it onto whatelisabeth.  It’s not a huge difference, but the deleted posts have the majority. I won’t even begin to add up the number of potential Instagram posts that are now deep, DEEP  in my recycle bin. So many assignments that I was so proud that have barely passed and “innovative ” ideas that one trip to google has shown is common mentality. Add that to the insecurities I already have, and it’s not the best situation to be in.

This isn’t a new issue; not too sure how to start fixing it. Like, there will always be someone or something better, how can I be happy with my work? Wish this was more of a positive post, but it’s been the only thing on my mind lately. If you struggle with this, or have found a middle ground let me know.

Natural Curly Hair Routine

Yep I did it. My room is a mess, the lighting is awful, and I filmed on my iphone. I want to do more videos, but it takes up a lot of time I don’t have. Tell me if it’s good, and if I should do more!!

here are the main take aways :

  1. you need leave in conditioner, mousse, AND gel
  2. Section you hair to make sure every in gets covered
  3. Don’t forget about your roots, so help me God
  4. I KNOW the thumbnail is messed up I don’t know what to do about it; it’s right everywhere else. Even in the featured image.

Gifts? Gifts. GIFTS!

How have we already circled back to the holidays?! We have just  2 months until presents have to be under trees, in stockings, or wherever you put gifts for your loved ones.  Have no fear, this post is here to save the day! Today (tonight/this morning/this evening/on this Christmas week), I have a blurb of ideas for 3 important people in your life; the guys, the gals, and your pals!

The Guys:

For all of the manly males in your life, gift giving can be hard. All that is advertised are tools, sports things, and cars, all of those thing are REALLY EXPENSIVE. This is great list of gifts from Uncommon Goods, that are a range of items and prices. There are doormats, home beer making kits, ticket stub books etc. If I had a special someone in my life, he would get a lot from this site. (My dad wants a new pack of reading glasses; I’ve already asked)

The Gals:

For the girls, stick to the cute. Jewelry, scarves, TEA STRAINERS, etc.. If it’s adorable she is guaranteed to LOVE it. The joyous squeals will be music to your ears. Of course, I have a nifty link to help guide your  girlfriend shopping adventures  .

The Pals:

Your good friends deserve the world. Depending on the size of your friend group, having unique gifts can be a struggle. These are the people that you can be the most problematic around . They will glare at you, yell at you, and then buy you ice cream and tell you they love you. So love them back with gifts  that will make them yell for the right reasons. Some personal favorites are the, make your own hot sauce, literary candles, the anatomy of a best friend poster, and the customized birthday books.

For this post I am working with UncommonGoods to start your holiday shopping adventures on the right foot! They are an online retailer where sustainability and social responsibility are part of their core values. Their products are from independent makers, and when you click on a product, one of the first things you see is who made it and where they are based from.  I already have multiple things bookmarked and ready for when I start my shopping. The prices aren’t the most affordable, but the quality and care that goes into every part of the transaction makes it all worth it.

The Irma Update: Tired, Sticky, but Alive

So what happens when a legendary storm decides to cut through the middle of Florida instead of it’s intended path up the west coast of the state?

  • it weakens (thank god can you imagine the devastation?)
  • your power is out for days
  • tensions run high because air conditioning is super important
  • you have to do your makeup by iPhone flashlight (first world problems I know)
  • the electric company’s message system begins with, “we know, you don’t have power”
  • Suddenly, no one can drive and run rampant on the roads
  • you count every blessing you’ve ever gotten

It’s been almost three days since Hurricane Irma barreled her way through Florida. I’m grateful to be complaining. The eye passed right through where I live in Polk county, and honestly having minimal damage is a miracle. My house lost a few shingles and all power. I’m learning the greatest lesson in patience waiting for power to be restored. Not all hope is lost though! I still have water, the office has electricity, and I have plenty of reading time. I also got to take a picture of this AMAZING rainbow the day after the storm. God’s promise that everything is gonna be okay. (if that’s not your thing, it’s a beautiful sign that everything will be okay!)

Back to School: All of the Links

So School? It sucks to be starting off on a bit of  a down note, but I’m so crazy late to post about back to school. In truth, I’ve been discouraged about life and usually blogging is the first thing that drops off my radar when this happens.  Let’s ease back into the swing of things with a bit of an edit! The rest of this post is a list of  YouTube videos and other blog posts about style, beauty, and other things that I think will be really helpful for the school year!  Some are school specific some aren’t, it’s all about taking what you need from them.

Dear 20

Dear 20, I am proud of what we did this year. We laughed and cried (a lot). Never forget this was the year you got your first degree, your first adult job, a solid group of friends, a decent car, a sense of direction, and for the first time in a long time you had a genuine smile

I’ll miss you

❤️ Elisabeth
